I Do

Allen-Thomas Wedding Mobile, Alabama

Though they were high school friends, Katherine and Webb were not high school sweethearts. They both headed to different SEC colleges after graduation, and it was not until senior year that they began dating. After graduation they moved to Birmingham, Alabama and “the rest was history,” Katherine said. It was important to the both of them to get married in their hometown of Mobile. The reception was held at the Bragg Mitchell Mansion, a historic antebellum mansion. “I chose this house because it is a southern, elegant, and beautiful home, showcasing some of Mobile’s rich history,” Katherine explained. “Our guests were able to walk in and out of the house through the old raised windows, which was the original intent for the windows. The overall layout was perfect for the flow of people.” Katherine added “I wanted an eclectic wedding by mixing the traditional venue and lace dress with contemporary décor and metallic bridesmaid dresses.”

What made you choose the dresses?

“Picking bridesmaid dresses was one of the hardest decisions that I had through the wedding planning process. I had 13 best friends… and myself to please! I did not want a ‘true bridesmaid dress’ because I wanted them to be able to wear the dresses again. I have always loved Shoshanna because of her unique styles, and the dresses always fit me well. I contacted Natalie at Debra’s and she sent me a few options. I immediately fell in love with the Metallic Jacquard Tillie dress-it was the perfect shape for all 13 girls. The color and sheen were gorgeous; I loved that it was neutral, but still sassy and had pockets. The metallic gold fabric went perfect with my coral and white bridesmaid bouquets!”

What was the best song to dance to while wearing the dress?

“They were all fun, but Proud Mary is always a favorite.”

Annie, Bridesmaid

“Every song!!! I tore up that dance floor. The dresses were very easy to dance in. I never felt uncomfortable or fat.”

Caroline, Maid of Honor

What was the funniest moment of the night?

“All the bridesmaids jumped into the bride and groom’s ‘get-away’ car and took pictures.”

Annie, Bridesmaid

“At one point in the night, Webb and I got on stage to dance with the band. We had to ‘shake what our mommas gave us!”

What was the greatest moment of the day?

“Continuing with our southern traditions, Webb and I chose not to see each other before the wedding. The greatest moment was seeing him smile at me as my Dad and I walked down that aisle. Also, sharing the greatest moment with all my family and friends was unforgettable. The outpouring of love was amazing.”
